Unicon recently ended their participation in a 3-year development project with a focus on steel fiber reinforced SCC concrete. The project is a so-called innovation consortium with participation from 8 Danish companies and a number of partners, including Vejdirektoratet, Banedanmark, Dansk Byggeri and Femern A/S.
Unicon’s two concrete factories in Aarhus produced and delivered more than 5600 m³ of concrete in the last week before Christmas. This is a historically high level. Large as well small projects needed concrete in order for the hardening to be done by the start of the New Year.
350 students from Aalborg University (AAU), University College Nordjylland (UCN) and AMU Nordjylland met this week (43) to produce 36 concrete units, which will characterize the new peoples’ park of Aalborg.

Thursday 11 and Friday 12 March 2013, Unicon delivered concrete to the largest continuous casting in the history of Denmark. The concrete was delivered from Unicon’s factories in Ejby and Avedøre with a total of 22 concrete trucks that drove around the clock since there were to be casted a bottom plate in the first shaft of the Metro City Circle.
In week 27, Unicon expects to launch their newest concrete plant in Denmark.
The concrete plant is located at the new AGF highway between Klipliv and Sønderborg where it replaces an older concrete plant in Sønderborg.

Unicon has been given the task of delivering concrete to Metroselskabet and the new Metro Line – City Circle – to make a better infrastructure in Copenhagen.
The work should be completed in 2018 where the City Circle’s 15.5 km. underground subway in up to 35 meters in depth will be ready.
Kjaer & Richter is the architect at the approx. 10,700 m² new construction, which soon will see the light at Aalborg University.
The Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education has signed an agreement with Aalborg University (AAU) to build a new construction for the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering as well as for the Department of Health Science and Technology.
