Nordic & Baltic region in the Cementir Group Copenhagen, Denmark – Monday, January 2, 2017
Aalborg Portland Holding, Denmark, a part of the Cementir Group, Italy, has appointed Piero Corpina (47) as Head of the Nordic & Baltic region and CEO of Aalborg Portland A/S and Unicon A/S. He will join the company on January 2, 2017.
The Nordic & Baltic Region includes Aalborg Portland A/S, a central pillar of the business community in Denmark and the world’s largest exporter of white cement, Unicon A/S with 80 plants in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and a number of subsidiaries in Poland, Russia, Iceland, UK, France and the US.
Piero Corpina has a 20-year industry experience with LafargeHolcim, the world’s leading building materials manufacturer, covering Senior Line, Staff and Project Roles with increasing responsibilities in ordinary business and change contexts. Most recently, he acted as General Manager of Holcim Divested Business Europe & North America, in context of the Global LafargeHolcim merger and as Delegate of the Competition Authorities. Beyond operational responsibility for the business, he steered its carve-out from Holcim and integration planning with the buyer. Since 1996, Piero had gained a broad range of professional experience in the Americas, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Oceania. In 2011, he was nominated CEO of Holcim Italy, that he repositioned commercially and operationally. Prior to that and as Head of Group Strategy & Planning, he managed the Group’s global planning & risk processes, while leading selected Group initiatives and M&A projects.

An Italian and Swiss national, Piero Corpina holds an MBA and PhD of Hochschule St. Gallen (Switzerland), and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School in Boston (USA) and IMD in Lausanne (Switzerland). When taking up his new appointment, Piero Corpina will effectively become the Head of the Nordic & Baltic region including companies in the UK and US, while he will be given the responsibility for approximately 1,000 employees. Piero Corpina will be based at the Group’s Nordic headquarters at Islands Brygge in Copenhagen, Denmark.
