In September, the Danish Government proposed a Budget Bill 2016 which promised a phase-out of the NOx tax already in 2016. With the Government’s final Budget Bill, which was decided on 19 November, the NOx tax was, however, only reduced.
– It is obviously a step in the right direction that the NOx tax is reduced, but on the basis of the Government’s proposed Budget Bill, we had expectations that the NOx tax was removed entirely. As a consequence, Aalborg Portland is still subject to an annual NOx tax of approximately DKK 10 million which our competitors are not, says Michael Lundgaard Thomsen, Managing Director.
