As the only cement producer in Denmark Cementir Holding was represented at the 14th Euroseminar on Microscopy Applied to Building Materials (EMABM 2013). The seminar was held in Helsingør, Denmark from June 10th to June 14th with 71 international participants from industry, consulting engineers, research institutes and universities.
A full day workshop on microscopy as a tool for assessing building materials was conducted. Here, Maria Rasch from the Cementir Holding Research and Quality Centre in Aalborg contributed with a presentation on clinker microscopy and the importance of this tool for the industry.
The subject of the presentation was the raw meal influence of burnability on cement clinkers, where examples of raw meal versus clinkers were demonstrated in the live optical microscope. Also the importance of linking the clinker microscopy to the microscopic appearance of the final concrete was addressed.
Finally results from the Fehmarn Belt Link assessment of concrete made with Aalborg Portland cement was presented by The Danish Technological Institute. This gave an invaluable insight into the possible concrete demands of this major infrastructural project in Denmark.
